张宏江博士现为微软亚洲工程院院长。
此前张宏江博士担任微软亚洲研究院副院长，高级研究员，并兼任研究院多媒体计算组主任研究员，主要负责多媒体计算、视频和图象的分析、处理和检索，人脸识别，网络搜索和发掘，分布系统和自然语言等方向的研究工作。
张博士是美国电气电子工程协会（IEEE）院士。由于在视频和图象内容的分析、检索和浏览研究方面开拓性贡献，张博士在世界多媒体研究领域是公认的先驱，享有很高的声誉。加盟微软之前，张博士是美国硅谷著名的惠普中央实验室研究主任，在多媒体内容的检索和管理技术，智能图象处理和视频编码等领域取得了许多重大科研成果并获得了多项专利。他已出版了四本学术专著，发表了超过300篇学术论文及专著章节，并拥有20项美国专利和30项专利申请。他是1999年ACM国际多媒体大会技术委员会的主席，2005年ACM多媒体大会主席，和IEEE多媒体学报主编。
张博士毕业于中国郑州大学，获电子工程学士学位，之后获丹麦科技大学电子工程博士学位。
Dr. Hongjiang Zhang is currently the Managing Director, Advanced Technology
Center. He was the Assistant Managing Director of at Microsoft Research Asia,
in charge of research in Natural Language Computing, Media Computing, Data
Mining and Web Search, as well as Distributed Systems. Prior to joining
Microsoft, Dr. Zhang was with Hewlett-Packard Labs at Palo Alto, CA, where he
was a research manager. From 1992-1995, Dr. Zhang worked with the Institute of
Systems Science, National University of Singapore.
Dr. Zhang is a fellow of IEEE. He has been actively engaged in R&D
activities in the areas of multimedia analysis, processing and retrieval, and
is well-known for his pioneering work in content-based multimedia
representation, retrieval and browsing. He has authored three books, over 300
referred papers and book chapters, and 8 special issues of IEEE Transactions
and other international journals, as well as over 20 granted and over 30
pending patents. He currently service as the Editor in Chief of IEEE
Transaction on Multimedia.
Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark, and B.S.
from Zhengzhou University, China, both in Electrical Engineering.
